A Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) measures how well the lungs take in air, push out air, and transfer oxygen into the blood. Since the lungs supply oxygen and remove carbon dioxide, this test is typically prescribed for asthma, COPD, lung scarring, or unexplained shortness of breath.
